Education should not be limited just for normal people. People with disabilities have also the right to be educated. Like the blind and deaf children, these children have their own way of adapting and learning because they have physical limitations but it doesn’t mean that they have to get a less impressive or substandard form of education.
Children with such disabilities need special education. They should be given quality instructional materials that are appropriate with them and caring educators who have the knowledge and skills on teaching these kids without making them feel that they have physical limitations. Sign language, creative learning and Braille reading are great ways for educators to give their special students with special kind of education.
Many special children acquire special skills and most of them are gifted that is why it is very important for their educators to cultivate their signature and unique talent in order for these children to gain more self confidence and self esteem. One example, blind children can learn how to play the piano because of their ultimate auditory skills. Some special children develop a much higher sensory awareness in their different working facilities because their body is adjusting its sensory functions to fulfill for their hearing, lack of sight and speech problems.
It is not advisable to put these children in a public educational facility because it can be harmful to their social and psychological capacities and could make them feel so upset especially for those special children who really don’t understand their conditions. Putting them in public institutions may lead to general hostility and bullying from other normal students. That is why many expert say that blind and deaf children is best to have home studies guided by special educators or they can be put to a special educational institution that could make them feel as if they have no physical limitations.
Sadly, there are still learning institutions that less prioritizing these special children because of their minor population compared to the whole population of normal children in public schools. There are experts who also say that it is best to construct and develop a facility that could give these kids the proper education that is appropriate for their conditions.
It is very hard for the parents of these special kids to accept that their kids can’t able to go to normal school, that is why many of them are calling for the attention of many education sector that they should give importance to these kids because they have also the right to be respected and be properly educated. There should be an equal educational right between these kids and other kids that has no physical liabilities.
There should be a law protecting these kids from discrimination and a law that will give them the right for proper education. It is not impossible that kids like this can be professionals someday. All they need is proper education with the help of caring instructor that will help them bring the best out of them. Special kids have special needs, and one thing that could help them is education.
